  Iraq Prime Minister receives the Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council

On the occasion of the visit of the GCC Secretary General to Iraq, Iraq Prime Minister, Mr. Adil Abdul-Mahdi received on Wednesday, 24 April 2019, in Baghdad, HE the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani.

The Iraq Prime Minister welcomed the Secretary-General, praising the development of the GCC- Iraq relations, which would enhance the cooperation between both sides in various fields, benefiting the peoples of the region and preserving its security and stability, and Noting the GCC active role and its high standing. He said that the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the GCC Secretariat represents an important step in the Iraq-GCC joint cooperation journey.

For his part, Dr. Al-Zayani expressed his happiness to visit the Republic of Iraq, praising the joint efforts and sincere desire to develop the brotherly relations and cooperation between the GCC and the Republic of Iraq in various fields. The Secretary-General stressed that the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the GCC Secretariat is an important step to consolidate the joint cooperation between both sides through strategic dialogue in political, economic, social and development fields.

During the meeting they discussed the brotherly relations between the GCC and the Republic of Iraq, as well as means of developing these relations in various fields. In addition, they reviewed the latest developments on the regional and international levels, as well as issues of common interest.

 

The meeting was attended by, Mr. Mohammed Mustafa Hashem and Dr. Mohamed Alhakim, Advisors to the Prime Minister, Mr. Nizar Khairallah, Senior Undersecretary of Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf Al-Janabi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Khalifa said Al-Abri, the GCC Assistant Secretary General for Economic and Development Affairs, and the Secretary General accompanying delegation.
