  Secretary- General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Praises the KSA-UAE Initiative to Provide Additional Support to Yemen

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani, praised the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates announcement to launch the "Imdaad"  initiative, to bridge the humanitarian needs gap in Yemen and provide additional support of US $ 500 million.

Dr. al-Zayani said that this KSA-UAE humanitarian initiative is an important step in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, and help them overcome the difficult conditions they are going through. This initiative will benefit about 12 million Yemenis affected by the war imposed by the Houthi militias in their coup against the legitimate authority.

The Secretary-General commended the noble humanitarian efforts exerted by the GCC countries to stand with the Yemeni people and support them. He called on humanitarian organizations keen on the interest of the Yemeni people to intensify their efforts to deliver more humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people and force the Houthis to stop the confiscation of relief aid, and facilitate their delivery to all Affected Yemeni areas.
