His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with Her Excellency Ms. Dubravka Šuica, European Union (EU) Commissioner for the Mediterranean (North Africa and the Middle East), today, Friday, July 11, 2025. The meeting took place on the sidelines of His Excellency's participation in the Dubrovnik Forum in Croatia.
During the meeting, they reviewed the paths of cooperation between the GCC and the European Union and discussed a number of topics of mutual interest. Foremost among these were the latest developments in the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between the two sides. They also discussed a proposal to hold a joint Gulf-European conference on energy security, with the participation of representatives from the public and private sectors from both sides, to contribute to strengthening the partnership in the field of energy.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on the latest regional and international developments, where both sides stressed the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation between the GCC and the EU, as well as intensifying joint efforts to support security, stability, and development in the region and the world.
