His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), condemned in the strongest and harshest terms the storming of the courtyards of the Blessed Al Aqsa Mosque by extremists within the Israeli occupation government, alongside recurrent settler intrusions and provocative rituals conducted under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.
His Excellency underscored that these violations represent a flagrant assault on the sanctity of the Blessed Al Aqsa Mosque and an unacceptable escalation that inflames tensions and jeopardises regional security and stability. He called upon the international community to assume its responsibilities and take swift, decisive action to halt these ongoing breaches and preserve the historical and legal status quo of the Holy Mosque.
Furthermore, His Excellency reiterated the steadfast stance of GCC member states in supporting the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the establishment of an independent state along the borders of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
