General Secretariat – Riyadh

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed his condemnation and denunciation in the strongest terms of Iran's targeting of the tanker “Wadiyan”, belonging to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasised that this criminal attack represents a flagrant violation of international law and the rules governing the safety of international maritime lanes.

"This attack reflects the continuation of the hostile and provocative approach pursued by Iran, alongside its insistence on destabilising regional security, undermining global energy security, and threatening international trade movement, in blatant defiance of all international laws, norms, and agreements," His Excellency stressed.

Furthermore, His Excellency underlined the GCC member states' full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, underscoring their support for all measures it takes to protect and safeguard its national interests.
