His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed his strong condemnation and denunciation of the irresponsible statements made by the Secretary General of Lebanese Hezbollah, Naim Qassem. The statements interfered in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and addressed the judicial and security measures taken by the Bahraini government against individuals convicted of crimes against their homeland, whose involvement in spying for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to commit terrorist and hostile acts aimed at damaging Bahrain's interests was legally proven.
"The GCC member states designate the Hezbollah militia—including all its leaders, factions, and affiliated or derived organisations—as a terrorist organisation under a resolution adopted in 2016. This designation came as a result of the militia's continuous hostile actions, including recruiting youth from GCC states to execute terrorist attacks, smuggling weapons and explosives, stirring up sectarian strife, and inciting chaos and violence in flagrant violation of the sovereignty, security, and stability of GCC nations," His Excellency stated.
Furthermore, His Excellency underscored the GCC's total rejection of all practices that threaten the security and stability of the Lebanese Republic and its brotherly people, or attempt to spread chaos and division within the country. He stressed that any attempts to keep Lebanon in a state of perpetual chaos and successive crises, or to threaten its legitimate state institutions, will not be accepted regionally or internationally.
His Excellency reiterated the GCC's steadfast position supporting the constructive steps taken by Lebanon under the leadership of His Excellency President Joseph Aoun, President of the Lebanese Republic, and the reformative measures undertaken by the Lebanese government led by Prime Minister Dr Nawaf Salam. He underlined the critical significance of all Lebanese parties supporting this reformative approach and rallying behind the state to rid Lebanon of its crises, thereby contributing to the accomplishment of security, stability, and prosperity for Lebanon and its brotherly people.
