His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with His Excellency Mr David Lammy, Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Justice of the United Kingdom (UK), Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the Republic of Greece, on the sidelines of the 1st Euro-Gulf Geopolitical and Investment Summit.
During the meeting, they discussed several topics, most notably bolstering the strategic partnership, including overcoming all obstacles and aligning views on all aspects of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two sides, paving the way for its signing in the near future. They also lauded the significant progress achieved so far in the FTA negotiations.
While exchanging views on a number of regional issues, His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi commended the UK's efforts and supportive stance toward the GCC countries against the brutal Iranian aggressions faced by the Council states. Furthermore, both sides underscored the significance of unifying and intensifying international efforts to promote security and stability in the region and the world.
