His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the agreement reached regarding the exchange of detainees in the sisterly Republic of Yemen. He commended the tireless efforts exerted by the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in hosting the negotiations, as well as the endeavors of the Office of the United Nations (UN) Special Envoy for Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which contributed to achieving this humanitarian agreement.

His Excellency emphasised that this step represents a positive gesture that contributes to alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people and enhances trust-building opportunities among the Yemeni parties. He reiterated the GCC's support for all regional and international efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with the three references: the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216, to ultimately achieve security and stability for Yemen and its brotherly people.
