His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with His Excellency Mr Ignazio Cassis, Foreign Minister of the Swiss Confederation, today, Friday, April 17, 2026, in the city of Antalya, Republic of Turkey, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
During the meeting, they discussed several international and regional issues, foremost among them the recent treacherous Iranian attacks on GCC states and their serious negative implications for security and stability in the region, as well as the regional and global economy. His Excellency expressed his thanks and appreciation for Switzerland's positions in support of the Gulf stance regarding these attacks.
For his part, His Excellency Mr Ignazio Cassis renewed his country’s condemnation of these Iranian attacks and its support for all measures taken by the GCC states. He also offered his condolences for the lives lost as a result of these attacks and expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.
Both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening political coordination based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the GCC states and Switzerland, contributing to the enhancement of security, stability, prosperity, and development for the peoples of both sides.
