His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received Mr Emre Sakmen, Representative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), today, Friday, April 17, 2026, in the city of Antalya, Republic of Turkey, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr Emre Sakmen provided an overview of the humanitarian situations in several conflict zones, most notably the situation in Gaza, and the efforts being made by Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. In this context, he praised the humanitarian and relief aid provided by the GCC states to those affected by crises, wars, and natural disasters, noting how this support has significantly helped in alleviating the suffering of those impacted.
The meeting also featured a review of several topics of mutual interest and explored ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the GCC and the IFRC.
