His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with Their Excellencies the Ambassadors representing the GCC states accredited to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union (EU), on the occasion of his official visit to the EU, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in Brussels.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency briefed Their Excellencies the Ambassadors on the latest regional developments, particularly regarding the current crisis and the GCC states' efforts in coordination and cooperation across all fields.
He discussed overcoming the risks faced by the Council states in light of the treacherous Iranian aggressions that targeted their territories, emphasising that the GCC has established a valuable model of coordination that has significantly contributed to mitigating these risks and ensuring minimal impact.
His Excellency also touched upon the objectives of his official visit to the EU and the briefing he is scheduled to deliver tomorrow to the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), in addition to his meetings with several EU officials to explore ways to bolstering Gulf-European relations.
Furthermore, His Excellency listened to the Ambassadors' perspectives on several topics related to bilateral relations between the GCC and the EU.
In conclusion, His Excellency expressed his gratitude to Their Excellencies the Ambassadors for their role, cooperation, and the high level of Gulf coordination among them, which has led significantly to driving Gulf-European links toward broader horizons.
