His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC, met with Her Excellency Ms Catherine Russell, Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) on Tuesday (February 3, 2026) on the sidelines of the World Government Summit (WGS) 2026.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the GCC and UNICEF in the field of children's rights, and what is needed to help children grow up in a thriving environment and reach their full potential.
The UNICEF Executive Director commended the efforts and contributions made by the GCC countries to care for Gulf children and protect their future. For his part, HE the Secretary General extended an invitation to UNICEF to participate in events organised by the General Secretariat related to children.
