His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has welcomed the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) hosting of trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi, bringing together representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.
His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi stated that hosting these discussions underscores the UAE's pivotal role in facilitating a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine crisis through diplomatic dialogue and constructive negotiations.
"The GCC’s stance on this crisis is firmly grounded in the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter," His Excellency stressed. He underscored the Council’s commitment to maintaining an international order based on respect for national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence, while strictly adhering to the principles of non-interference and the prohibition of the use or threat of force.
Finally, His Excellency expressed his aspiration that these talks, hosted by the UAE, will successfully achieve their intended objectives, ultimately bolstering security and stability between the respective parties.
