His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met today, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, with His Excellency Mr Yeo Han-koo, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy of the Republic of South Korea. The meeting took place in Davos, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the 56th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting.
The meeting focused on exploring avenues to bolster economic and commercial cooperation between the two sides. Both parties reviewed the latest technical developments aimed at the final signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the GCC and South Korea, following the formal conclusion of technical negotiations and the signing of the joint statement in December 2023.
Furthermore, the discussions addressed ways to enhance strategic dialogue by activating the cooperation areas outlined in the GCC-South Korea Joint Action Plan. The two officials also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of mutual interest.
