His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with Her Excellency Ms Mariana Betsa, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, today, Friday, September 26, 2025.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of His Excellency's participation in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States of America.
At the beginning of the meeting, the two sides exchanged messages regarding the adoption of the Joint Action Plan (2025-2030) between the GCC and Ukraine, referencing the decision of the 165th session of the Ministerial Council of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Foreign Ministers of the GCC states.
They then reviewed Gulf-Ukrainian relations and ways to enhance them, as well as the mechanism for activating the Joint Action Plan to achieve its desired objectives in order to serve the common interests of both sides.
While discussing the latest developments in the Ukrainian-Russian crisis, His Excellency affirmed during the meeting that the GCC states support all regional and international efforts and mediations to contribute to reaching a political solution to the crisis between Russia and Ukraine.
He stated that the GCC's position on the Russian-Ukrainian crisis is based on the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, the preservation of the international order based on respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, and the non-use or threat of force.
