His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the joint statement issued by the quadrilateral meeting of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States of America, concerning the conflict in Sudan.

His Excellency praised the principles contained in the statement, which emphasised respect for Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as the need for an immediate ceasefire, facilitating safe and unhindered access for humanitarian aid throughout Sudan, protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure in accordance with international humanitarian law, and transitioning to a comprehensive and transparent political process that leads to the formation of a civilian government with broad legitimacy that reflects the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security and stability.

He also commended the tireless efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States of America regarding the conflict in Sudan.

His Excellency affirmed the full support of the GCC countries for these international and Arab efforts, as well as the Council's readiness to cooperate with various partners to enhance the chances for lasting peace, alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people, and ensure the preservation and stability of Sudanese state institutions.
