His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with His Excellency Mr Zhai Jun, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East issue, today, Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the high-level Ministerial session of the United Nations (UN) Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-state Solution at the UN headquarters in New York.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between the GCC countries and the People's Republic of China were discussed, along with ways to enhance them to serve common interests.
The outcomes of the trilateral summit between the GCC, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the People's Republic of China were reviewed.
Additionally, views were exchanged on the developments of the Palestinian issue and the humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip.
His Excellency the GCC Secretary General praised the valuable efforts made by China to support the Palestinian cause, its standing with the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights, and its sincere efforts to promote stability and a just peace in the region.
The two sides also affirmed the exertion of all efforts and means to assist the besieged Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, to deliver relief and medical aid to them urgently and immediately, and to intensify joint efforts to achieve security and peace.
