His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the adoption by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on June 16, 2025, of the resolution entitled "Cooperation between the United Nations and the Gulf Cooperation Council," which was presented by the State of Kuwait in its capacity as the current presidency country of the Council on behalf of the member states.
Commenting further, His Excellency emphasised that this resolution represents an important milestone in the journey of regional and international cooperation for the GCC, as it is the first UN resolution adopted under this title.
"This accomplishment reflects the esteemed position of the Cooperation Council as an active regional partner in supporting international peace and security," His Excellency stated.
He also pointed out that this resolution embodies the level of cooperation between the two sides and establishes a new phase of strategic partnership, encompassing activities and plans aimed at upgrading mutual cooperation.
Finally, His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi appreciated the notable diplomatic efforts exerted by the State of Kuwait through its permanent mission to the United Nations in New York, affirming that this joint achievement embodies the spirit of Gulf integration and reflects the Council’s approach of openness and cooperation with international partners in various forums.
