His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received His Excellency Mr Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, today, Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General expressed his welcome and appreciation for the Chinese Foreign Minister’s visit to the General Secretariat.
He noted that this visit would contribute to strengthening GCC-China ties, in light of the support and attention these links receive from the wise leadership of both sides.
In turn, His Excellency Mr Wang Yi commended the distinguished efforts currently being undertaken by the GCC General Secretariat to develop the existing partnership between the two sides, serving common interests.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of cooperation between the GCC and the People's Republic of China within the approved fields of the Joint Action Plan (2023–2027).
They also discussed the progress of negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), where both sides underscored the importance of overcoming all obstacles in preparation for its signing in the coming period.
While exchanging views on regional and international issues, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General praised China's supportive stance on the Palestinian cause, which contributes to enabling the brotherly Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights.
Moreover, His Excellency expressed his appreciation for China's significant efforts in supporting security and stability in the region. For his part, His Excellency the Chinese Foreign Minister valued the regional and international positions of the GCC states and their support for the People's Republic of China on numerous issues of mutual interest.
