His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), affirmed that joint military action among the GCC states receives special attention and care from Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the Cooperation Council member countries, stemming from their deep belief in the bonds of unity that bring their nations together.
"This attention also reflects their realisation of the pivotal role played by the armed forces in protecting the security and stability of GCC states, safeguarding their safety and sovereignty, in addition to elevating these forces' role to keep pace with the aspirations of the GCC peoples. Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC underline the significance of continuing this blessed Gulf journey in order to bolster its ability to deal with various challenges and threats, both present and future," His Excellency stated.
His Excellency's remarks were made during the 22nd Session of the Joint Defence Council, held today, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in the State of Kuwait. The session was chaired by His Excellency Shaikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al Salem Al Sabah, Minister of Defense of the State of Kuwait—Chairman of the current session—with the participation of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of Defense of the GCC states.
At the beginning of his speech, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General extended the highest expressions of thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait and Chairman of the current session of the GCC Supreme Council for his patronage and gracious directives, and for the tireless efforts exerted by the State of Kuwait to elevate the journey of joint Gulf action and achieve the noble goals of the GCC.
He also expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Shaikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al Salem Al Sabah for his commendable efforts during his chairmanship of the Joint Defence Council in this session, as well as for the backing and assistance provided by the Ministry of Defense and relevant authorities in the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, in addition to the generous hosting and warm hospitality.
He reiterated his profound gratitude for the significant role played by the Joint Defence Council in developing joint GCC military action, and for the wise directives extended to deepen its bonds, overcome any obstacles or challenges, and advance it towards the desired noble goals.
Moreover, His Excellency underscored the importance of joint military coordination, highlighting the two heinous attacks targeting the State of Qatar by Iran and the Israeli occupation forces.
"These brutal assaults served as an alarm bell and a warning to us all regarding the importance of strengthening joint GCC military action and brotherly coordination among us, and paving all ways to ensure its continuous success," His Excellency explained.
Furthermore, His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi pointed out that the agenda of this esteemed meeting includes numerous topics requiring gracious directives, which will contribute to upgrading the GCC states' endeavours in the fields of joint military action.
"This aims to ensure continued cooperation and coordination in all aspects of collective security, protecting GCC states, and maintaining their sovereignty and stability, particularly given that the security of the GCC states is an indivisible whole," His Excellency concluded.
