His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and His Excellency Dr Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for consultations on issues of common interest between the General Secretariat of the GCC and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, on Sunday (October 5, 2025) in Kuwait City, on the sidelines of the 29th Joint Ministerial Meeting between the GCC and the European Union (EU).
HE the Secretary General stated that the MoU reflects the desire of both sides to strengthen and develop their relations of friendship, cooperation and partnership, and their conviction that constructive and ongoing dialogue on issues of common interest will contribute to deepening mutual understanding and enhancing cooperation in various fields.
The two sides will hold regular consultations to explore areas of cooperation, in addition to a regular political dialogue to discuss issues of common interest and exchange views on regional and international issues.
His Excellency also indicated that the memorandum will contribute to reaching a Joint Action Plan through which the two sides will discuss cooperation in the following areas: political issues, regional and international issues of common interest, trade, investment, industry and other economic areas of common interest, education, culture and tourism, the environment, agriculture, in addition to other areas of cooperation that can be added through mutual consultations between the two sides.
