His Excellency Mr. Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), delivered the following statement after the conclusion of the 18th consultative meeting of the Supreme Council:
In response to a gracious invitation from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC member states held their 18th consultative meeting on Wednesday, Muharram 1, 1445 AH (July 19, 2023) in the city of Jeddah, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
His Excellency the Secretary General stated that their Majesties and Highnesses reviewed during their meeting the developments of the joint GCC action process, in addition to exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues.
His Excellency the Secretary General indicated that His Highness Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, expressed deep appreciation for the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman during its presidency of the current session of the Supreme Council. He also mentioned that His Highness extended an invitation to their Majesties and Highnesses to attend the meeting of the next session of the Supreme Council in their second country, Qatar.
In this context, Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC countries welcomed the convening of the 44th session of the GCC Supreme Council in Doha, in December 2023.
At the end of the meeting, the leaders of the GCC states, Their Majesties and Highnesses, expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They thanked them for their sincere feelings of brotherhood, hospitality, and generosity that were extended to them in their second home, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
