Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of Interior of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held their 39th meeting at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council in Riyadh, today, Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
The meeting was chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Chairman of the current session, and with the participation of Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior of the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Major General Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar, His Excellency Shaikh Talal Khalid Al Ahmad Al Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Kuwait, and His Excellency Dr Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the GCC.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, delivered a speech in which His Royal Highness conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and their best wishes for the meeting to be successful.
Moreover, His Royal Highness expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Secretary General of the GCC and all employees of the Assistant Secretariat for Security Affairs in the General Secretariat of the GCC, for their efforts towards preparing, coordinating and arranging for the meeting.
Meanwhile, Their Highnesses and Excellencies also offered sincere condolences and sympathy to the people of the United Arab Emirates, the GCC states and the Arab and Islamic nations on the sad passing of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, praising the tireless efforts and great achievements as well as the continued support provided by His Highness to promote the joint Gulf action.
Furthermore, Their Highnesses and Excellencies extended sincere congratulations and best wishes to His Highness Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates on assuming the role of President, praying to Allah the Almighty for his success in his duties and to grant the people of the United Arab Emirates more success, security and prosperity.
Additionally, Their Highnesses and Excellencies congratulated the State of Qatar on the occasion of organising the 2022 World Cup, and His Excellency Shaikh Talal Khalid Al Ahmad Al Sabah for the Emiri confidence in appointing him as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the sisterly State of Kuwait.
During the meeting, Their Highnesses and Excellencies discussed the agenda, common security issues and new relevant updates, in addition to reviewing the reports on the joint tactical exercise of the security services in the GCC states (Arab Gulf Security 3), which was organised by the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2022), and the existing preparations for the upcoming exercise (Arab Gulf Security 4), which will be hosted by the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar (2023).
