His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Chairman of the current session, affirmed that the joint Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) defence action represents a strong dam and a protective shield to confront risks and threats, achieve security and stability for the GCC countries and the region, and protect national interests and economic resources. His Royal Highness also stressed the importance of strengthening the various aspects of cooperation between the GCC states, to preserve the interests and gains of their homelands and people.

This came while His Royal Highness chaired the 19th session of the Joint Defence Cooperation Council meeting on Tuesday (November 8, 2022) at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh. The meeting was held in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bawardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, Minister of Defence Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs of the State of Qatar, and His Excellency Shaikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al Sabah, Minister of Defence of the State of Kuwait, and with the participation of His Excellency Dr Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the GCC, and His Excellency Lieutenant General Eid bin Awad Al Shalawi, Commander of the GCC Unified Military Command.

During the meeting, Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of Defence expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to their Majesties and Highnesses the Leaders of the GCC states, for the great interest in the joint GCC military action.

The meeting also dealt with several topics of joint military action listed on the agenda, regarding which appropriate decisions and recommendations were taken. Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of Defence stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts in order to achieve joint GCC military cooperation between the armed forces of the member countries, in implementation of the wise visions and objectives of their Majesties and Highnesses the Leaders of the GCC states.
