The Anti-Corruption Ministerial Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held its eighth meeting, today, Wednesday, October 12, 2022, via video conference.

The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Mr. Mazin bin Ibrahim Al Kahmous, President of Control and Anti-Corruption Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Chairman of the current session, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Harib bin Saeed Al Amimi, President of State Audit Institution of the United Arab Emirates (UAE),  His Excellency Lt. Gen. Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Shaikh Ghosn bin Hilal bin Khalifa Al Alawi, President of the State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution of the Sultanate of Oman,  His Excellency Mr. Hamad bin Nasser Al Misned, President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority of the State of Qatar, His Excellency Eng. Abdul Aziz Abdul Latif Al Ibrahim, President of the Anti-Corruption Authority of the State of Kuwait, and with the participation of His Excellency Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the GCC.

During the meeting, Their Excellencies discussed a number of topics that will have a prominent role in supporting the process of joint cooperation among the GCC member states in the fields of protecting integrity and combating corruption. At the forefront of these topics are the draft regulations (laws) to protect public money in the GCC countries and the guidelines provided by the anti-corruption bodies and agencies in the GCC. 

They also addressed the guide to disclose financial assets in the GCC countries, the evidence proposed by the Control and Anti-Corruption Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the work mechanism for reviewing draft regulations (laws) or guidelines within the framework of the work of the committee of specialists in the bodies responsible for protecting integrity and combating corruption in the GCC  member states which was proposed by the Control and Anti-Corruption Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They also reviewed the list of the GCC Award for Excellence in the protection of Integrity and Anti-Corruption.

They also discussed the strategic guide for coordination and cooperation between the bodies, agencies and ministerial committees of the GCC within the framework of developing and implementing mechanisms to prevent and combat corruption, which was proposed by the Anti-Corruption Authority of the State of Kuwait, and amending the name of the meeting of Their Excellencies the Undersecretaries or Assistants or those performing their duties in the bodies responsible for protecting integrity and combating corruption in the GCC countries, amending the name of the committee of specialists in the bodies responsible for protecting integrity and combating corruption in the GCC countries, activating mechanisms for implementing guiding principles for the exchange of expertise and experiences between anti-corruption bodies and agencies in the GCC countries. 

Moreover, they also expressed full support for the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to adopt the agreement of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to enhance cooperation between law enforcement authorities concerned with combating corruption, in addition to holding meetings of the committee of specialists in the country which chairs the session as well as updating the list of liaison officers nominated by the GCC countries.
