His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received Her Excellency Dr Maria Luisa, Head of the Mediterranean, Middle East and Africa Programme at the Institute of International Affairs (IAI), today, Monday (24 August 2026), at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.

During the meeting, they reviewed a number of topics of mutual concern, most notably GCC-Italian ties and the importance of bolstering communication and cooperation between the GCC states and Italy.

The two sides also discussed several proposals and initiatives to strengthen cooperation between the GCC states and the Institute, encompassing practical programmes and joint activities.

In the context of regional developments, both sides underscored the significance of de-escalation and promoting security and stability through diplomacy and constructive dialogue.
