His Excellency Mr Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy, received His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), on the occasion of His Excellency the GCC Secretary General's official visit to the Republic of Italy today, Monday (6 July 2026), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Rome.

During the meeting, they examined relations between the GCC and the Republic of Italy, alongside ways to elevate and develop them across various fields to serve the mutual interests of both parties, keeping pace with the growth and shared desire in Gulf-Italian links to elevate them to broader levels.

The two sides also addressed a number of proposals and initiatives aimed at contributing to boosting economic ties and the growth of trade and investment exchange to accomplish their shared aspirations and bolstering the existing partnership between them. In this context, His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi underlined the GCC's keenness to strengthen its ties with the Republic of Italy, given Italy's status as an important partner for the GCC states. Besides, His Excellency expressed his aspiration to continue building upon the milestones achieved during the past period.

Furthermore, views were exchanged during the meeting on the latest regional and international developments, foremost among which are the current situations unfolding in the region. Both sides stressed the singnificance of promoting dialogue and coordination, as well as backing efforts aimed at consolidating security and stability. 

Moreover, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General extended his appreciation for the Republic of Italy's stance in support of the GCC member states and its condemnation of the Iranian attacks that targeted GCC countries during recent events, valuing how this position reflects Italy's commitment to consolidating the existing partnership between the two sides.​
