His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held a telephone call today, Thursday (30 July 2026), with Her Excellency Ms Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.

During the call, they discussed the latest preparations for the 2nd summit between Their Majesties and Highnesses, the Leaders of the GCC states, and the Leaders of the EU member states, alongside related topics. They also reviewed progress in implementing the outcomes of the 1st GCC-EU Summit and the mechanisms for their execution, contributing to the bolstering of strategic relations between the GCC and the EU.

Both sides expressed their anticipation for convening the 2nd GCC-EU Summit, highlighting it as a significant strategic milestone to advance the partnership journey between the GCC and the EU.

Furthermore, both sides emphasised the importance of continuing joint work and building upon the results and initiatives accomplished since the 1st summit to cement cooperation across various priority fields. They pointed out that these efforts reflect the depth of historical ties between the GCC and the EU, fostering development and prosperity for their peoples while contributing to security, stability, and peace regionally and internationally.​
