His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), offered his condolences to His Highness Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, on the passing of His Highness the Father Amir Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, today, Monday (14 July 2026), at Al Wajba Palace in the city of Doha.

His Excellency expressed his sincere feelings of condolence and sympathy to His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar, the honourable ruling family, and the government and brotherly people of the State of Qatar, praying to Allah the Almighty to bestow His vast mercy and forgiveness upon His Highness the late Father Amir, grant him an exalted place in Paradise, and grant his family and loved ones patience and solace.

"With the passing of His Highness the Father Amir Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the State of Qatar and the Gulf community have lost a leadership figure whose name was associated with a pivotal juncture in modern Qatari history. His Highness led an ambitious national journey that contributed to qualitative transformations, strengthening state capabilities, solidifying its institutions, broadening its development horizons, and anchoring its presence and standing on regional and international levels," His Excellency stated. 

His Excellency added that His Highness the late Father Amir established valuable and firmly rooted foundational pillars for the nation's journey, which was reflected in the continuous progress and qualitative achievements realised by the State of Qatar, as well as its drive toward further development and prosperity. "This was in addition to His Highness' directives launching numerous developmental and humanitarian initiatives whose impact extended to many countries and communities," His Excellency pointed out.

Furthermore, His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi emphasised that His Highness the late Father Amir Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani deeply believed that the GCC system represents an inclusive framework for the interests of its member states and peoples, and that its cohesion and consensus form the foundation for protecting its achievements, safeguarding its security, and continuing its progress. "His Highness the late leader was an active partner in crafting key milestones in the history of joint Gulf action, contributing to supporting consultation among member states, bolstering fraternal bonds, and cementing the Council's ability to navigate regional and international developments," His Excellency explained. 

His Excellency concluded by praying to Allah the Almighty to bestow His vast mercy and forgiveness upon His Highness the late Father Amir Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, to reward him abundantly for all he rendered to his nation, people, and ummah, to protect the State of Qatar, its leadership, and its people, and to bestow upon it perpetual security, stability, and prosperity.​
