His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received His Excellency Mr Charis Moritsis , Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today, Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the General Secretariat’s headquarters in Riyadh.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the brutal Iranian aggressions targeting the GCC states and reviewed the implications of the dangerous escalation currently witnessed in the region, highlighting the direct threat it poses to regional and international security and stability.
His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi praised the efforts of the Republic of Cyprus during its current Presidency of the European Union (EU) in enhancing dialogue and partnership between the GCC and the EU. He further expressed his appreciation for Cyprus's positions of solidarity with the GCC states in confronting Iranian aggressions and supporting regional security and stability.
The meeting also addressed several key topics, most notably a review of GCC-Cypriot and GCC-European relations and ways to develop and bolster them to achieve mutual interests. Additionally, the officials exchanged views on the latest developments regionally and internationally.
