His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Highness Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and to His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, on the occasion of the UAE winning the bid to host the 2029 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Abu Dhabi.
His Excellency praised the UAE’s high-level capabilities and extensive expertise in hosting major international economic events, which reflect the efficiency of its national economic institutions and its prestigious standing both regionally and internationally. He stressed that hosting this global event embodies the growing international confidence in the UAE’s economy and its advanced investment environment.
"The hosting of this prominent event by a GCC member state represents a qualitative addition that bolsters the economic standing of the Council states globally," His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi pointed out. He added that it serves to highlight the developments and achievements reached across various sectors and consolidates the GCC's role as a key partner in supporting global economic stability and growth.
His Excellency concluded his statement by affirming that this hosting is a source of pride for all GCC countries, reflecting the advanced levels of development and economic cooperation the region has achieved.
