His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met today, Monday, January 19, 2026, with Mr Maroun Kairouz, World Economic Forum (WEF) Director for the Middle East and North Africa. The meeting took place in Davos, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the 56th WEF Annual Meeting.
The meeting focused on exploring avenues to bolster joint cooperation between the GCC and the WEF, alongside deliberating on economic and developmental issues of mutual interest. Both parties reviewed the latest regional and international developments, exchanging perspectives on the current global landscape.
During the meeting, His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi underscored the GCC’s commitment to strengthening its active presence within international economic forums and contributing to the formulation of collective solutions for global economic challenges.
He further commended the WEF’s pivotal role in fostering regional and international dialogue and cooperation, expressing his aspirations for establishing sustainable and substantive partnerships between the two organisations.
