General Secretariat – Manama

​His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received His Excellency Mr Abdulrahim Sultan, Director General of the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO), on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in the Bahraini capital, Manama. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Second Global Water, Energy and Climate Change Congress (GWECCC). 


During the meeting, they discussed a number of topics of common interest in various environmental and climate fields. They also covered the Global Alliance on Green Economy (GAGE), launched by the WGEO, and its pivotal role in enhancing climate action, food security, and climate-resilient sustainable development.

His Excellency the GCC Secretary General praised the significant role the organisation plays in promoting the green economy and its leading role in advancing its pathways regionally and internationally, underlining its importance as a fundamental pillar for sustainable development and human security.

During the meeting, both sides looked forward to building a fruitful partnership between the GWECCC and the GCC General Secretariat in order to serve the directives of the GCC member states in this field.​
