His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that the 165th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council will be held tomorrow, Monday, September 1, 2025, in Kuwait City. 

The meeting will be chaired by His Excellency Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council, with the attendance of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Foreign Ministers of the GCC states. It will be followed by the second GCC-Japan Joint Ministerial Meeting, which will be chaired by His Excellency Mr Iwaya Takeshi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

"During its session, the GCC Ministerial Council will discuss a number of reports regarding the follow-up on the implementation of the decisions of the GCC Supreme Council, which were issued by the 45th Summit in Kuwait City in December 2024. The meeting will also discuss memorandums and reports submitted by the ministerial and technical committees and the General Secretariat, topics related to strategic dialogues and relations between the GCC and other countries and global blocs, in addition to the latest regional and international developments in the region," His Excellency stated. 

His Excellency the Secretary General also said that the Gulf-Japanese meeting comes as part of the GCC's efforts to strengthen its relations with countries and organisations around the world. 

"The meeting will cover the discussion of several topics, most importantly the joint action plan between the two sides, in addition to continued consultation and coordination. Views will be also exchanged on regional and international issues of common interest in order to support and enhance security and stability in the region," His Excellency concluded.
