His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), confirmed that the passport departments of the Ministries of Interior of the GCC countries, through their ongoing joint technical meetings, are making valuable efforts to launch the unified tourist visa project in the near future.
This came during HE the Secretary General’s meeting with the participants in the 39th Meeting of the Directors General of Passports of the GCC countries, held on Wednesday (June 2, 2025) at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh.
During the meeting, HE the Secretary General reviewed the draft agenda, including the Gulf visa project, and reviewed the latest developments in the meetings of the technical teams concerned with this project.
Meanwhile, His Excellency praised the efforts of the meeting participants in strengthening cooperation and coordination among the GCC countries in the field of passports, and exchanging distinguished expertise, in a way that serves common security and facilitates movement between the GCC countries, in order to achieve the aspirations of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC countries, and the peoples of the council states.
In the same context, HE the Secretary General added: “Everyone is working as one team to keep pace with technological developments and security requirements in a world characterised by rapid change.”
