His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that the joint workshop on risk assessment and classification in the Gulf region aims to enhance knowledge of risk and threat assessment methodologies as well as develop practical skills for specialists in data collection and prioritising risks.

His Excellency's remarks came during the joint workshop on risk assessment and classification in the Gulf region, organised by the Gulf Research Centre and the GCC Emergency Management Centre, held today, Sunday, November 17, 2025, at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh. The event featured the participation of a number of specialists and experts from the GCC countries.

At the beginning of his participation, His Excellency praised the efforts of the Gulf Research Centre, led by its Chairman, Dr Abdulaziz bin Sager, and the centre's affiliates, in cooperating with the GCC General Secretariat to hold workshops and activities that contribute to cementing and exchanging expertise.

His Excellency also indicated that the GCC countries always seek to upgrade the capabilities of their concerned agencies and adopt unified methodologies for assessing risks and threats, in order to bolster "our countries' readiness."

Moreover, His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi praised what he witnessed at the workshop, including the presentation of scientific methodologies, practical applications for data collection, and field training on risk assessment and classification operations within the context of the Gulf environment. Finally, His Excellency extended his thanks and appreciation to the organisers of the workshop.
