His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with His Excellency Mr Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, on the sidelines of His Excellency the Secretary General's participation in the 9th Istanbul Mediation Conference, held under the theme "Partnerships and New Perspectives for Peace: Mediation in a Changing World". The meeting took place on Friday, 23 October 2026, in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed GCC-Turkish relations and reviewed ways to bolster and develop them across various fields, serving mutual interests and reflecting the depth of the existing ties and partnership between the GCC and the Republic of Türkiye.
Both sides also underlined their shared anticipation for convening the 7th Joint Ministerial Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the GCC and the Republic of Türkiye in the upcoming period. They noted that this will contribute to bolstering avenues of joint cooperation and opening broader horizons for bilateral partnership in areas of mutual interest.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the latest developments unfolding in the region. The two officials exchanged views on these matters, as well as on the efforts exerted to de-escalate tensions and enhance regional security and stability.
