His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that the emergency briefing presented by His Excellency Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to the United Nations (UN) Security Council regarding the Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain—and the presentation of facts and the humanitarian and security repercussions thereof—reflects the Kingdom's commitment to diplomatic and legal avenues, and its dedication to informing the international community about the gravity of these developments and their impact on regional security and stability.
His Excellency underlined that the briefing underscored the Kingdom of Bahrain's approach, which is based on respect for the rules of international law and the UN Charter, and its keenness to address challenges through international institutions, thereby contributing to cementing regional and international peace and security.
Moreover, His Excellency reiterated the GCC's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, affirming that the security of GCC states is indivisible, and that any aggression targeting one member country is considered an aggression against all.
His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi also called upon the international community, particularly the Security Council, to assume its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security, and to take a firm stance against these attacks to ensure the cessation of actions that threaten regional security, respect the principles of international law and the UN Charter, and bolster regional and international security and stability.
