His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that Their Excellencies the Ministers of Transport and Communications of the GCC states discussed today, during their meeting, the implementation of the directives of Their Majesties and Highnesses the Leaders of the GCC States issued at their 19th Consultative Meeting (Jeddah, 28 April 2026) regarding joint Gulf projects in this field.


This came during the extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Their Excellencies the GCC Ministers of Transport and Communications, held today, Wednesday​ (17 June 2026), via videoconference. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of the Kingdom of Bahrain and President of the current session, with the participation of Their Excellencies the GCC Ministers of Transport and Communications.

His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi pointed out that during the meeting—wherein the Ministers commended the initiatives taken by the General Secretariat to commence the implementation of the supreme directives—the committee reviewed the steps and efforts undertaken by the Higher Committee of the GCC General Secretariat. The meeting also outlined the future work plan with member states to formulate recommendations aimed at strengthening supply chain corridors between member states and mitigating any potential impacts on trade movement and logistics networks.

"Their Excellencies underscored the vital significance of boosting and intensifying joint Gulf efforts, as well as adopting future projects and additional proactive measures to maintain the smooth flow of land, sea, and air transport. This is essential to ensure the sustainability of freight transit and the uninterrupted, efficient operation of vital sectors," His Excellency added. 

At the conclusion of his statement, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to Their Excellencies the GCC Ministers of Transport and Communications for the immense support they have extended to the General Secretariat’s Higher Committee, enabling it to successfully carry out its mandates.
