His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with Dr Pan Gongsheng, Governor of the People's Bank of China, today, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in Washington D.C., on the sidelines of his participation in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of joint cooperation between the GCC countries and the People's Republic of China, and discussed ways to enhance financial and banking relations between the two sides.
This aims to support financial stability and open new horizons for GCC-China cooperation, building on the joint meeting that brought together the GCC central bank governors with the Governor of the People's Bank of China in AlUla last February. A number of proposed initiatives and programmes aimed at enhancing prospects for economic and financial integration and supporting joint efforts were also reviewed
During the meeting, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General affirmed the keenness of the GCC countries to develop economic and financial partnership with China in order to support global economic stability and contributes to sustainable development, exchange of expertise, and coordination of efforts on issues of common interest.
