  HE GCCSG and Chairperson of the Qatar National Human Rights Commission Affirm Importance of Cooperation among National Human Rights Institutions Regional Networks and Partners within the UN System

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and Her Excellency Ms. Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, Chairperson of the Qatar National Human Rights Commission and President of the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions, emphasised the significance of cooperation between regional networks of national human rights institutions and partners within the United Nations system, in providing support in this endeavor to states and national human rights institutions in all regions.


This came during their meeting today, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, in the Qatari capital Doha, on the sidelines of His Excellency's participation in the International Conference on Food Justice  themed “From A Human Right Perspective - Challenges of Reality and Future Stakes”, organised by Qatar.

During the meeting, several topics were discussed, including cooperation between the General Secretariat of the Council and the National Human Rights Commission. Moreover, they shed light on the importance of highlighting the fundamental role played by national human rights institutions in promoting peace and security for all.
