  HE the GCCSG and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Stress the Historic Partnership between the GCC and the EU

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with His Excellency Mr Joseph Borrell, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, on Sunday (February 18, 2024), in the city of Munich in the Federal Republic of Germany, on the sidelines of HE the Secretary General’s participation in the 60th edition of the Munich Security Conference (MSC).


During the meeting, the officials discussed several topics of common interest, reviewed the means to enhance and develop cooperation in various fields between the two sides, and emphasised the historic partnership between the GCC and the EU.

The two sides also expressed the importance of joint international collective action to confront the challenges and serious repercussions caused by many international and regional conflicts and crises, most notably the crisis in the Gaza Strip and its impact on the lives of innocent Palestinian civilians. They stressed the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and urgently permitting humanitarian and relief aid to enter the Palestinian people in the Strip.

During the meeting, the officials also reviewed the agreements made at the 27th session of the Joint Ministerial Council between the GCC and the EU, held in October 2023 in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
