  HE the GCCSG: The Council's Countries and Uzbekistan Seek to Enhance Cooperation and Look Forward to Adopting a Joint Action Plan that Serves Common Interests

His Excellency Mr Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), affirmed that the GCC countries and Uzbekistan aim to strengthen cooperation and look forward to adopting a joint action plan that serves common interests.

This came during his meeting with His Excellency Mr. Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on Thursday, September 21, 2023, on the sidelines of his participation in the meetings of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in the United States.

His Excellency the Secretary General stated that several topics were discussed during the meeting, including the outcomes of the joint ministerial meeting for strategic dialogue between the GCC and the Central Asian countries, which was held on September 7, 2022, in addition to reviewing the development of relations between the Council and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Furthermore, he stated that based on the memorandum of understanding signed between the GCC and Uzbekistan in 2021, both sides look forward to adopting a joint action plan between them. He also commended Uzbekistan's role during its chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in 2022.
