Page ContentHis Excellency Mr Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received His Excellency Mr Christophe Farnaud, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday (October 3, 2023) at the headquarters of the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh.At the beginning of the meeting, HE the Secretary General congratulated HE Mr Farnaud on the occasion of his appointment as the EU Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, wishing him success in his tasks.His Excellency stated that the meeting discussed the agenda of the 27th joint ministerial meeting between the GCC and the EU, scheduled to be held on October 9-10, 2023, in the Omani capital, Muscat. Moreover, HE Mr Albudaiwi stressed that the Cooperation Council countries and the Union are always seeking to increase cooperation and develop relations between the two sides, based on the previously signed GCC-EU Partnership Agreement, aiming to strengthen relations between the two sides in a way that serves common interests.During the meeting, relations between the GCC and the EU were reviewed, and the progress in implementing the strategic partnership between the two sides and the joint work programme 2022-2027 was followed up, in addition to discussing political issues of common interest.
