Page ContentHis Excellency Mr Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has escalated his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to His Highness Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, and the government and people of Qatar on the launch of the exceptional event, the 2023 International Horticultural Expo (Expo 2023 Doha), which is the first event of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region.His Excellency's remarks came while participating in the official ceremony to inaugurate the Expo 2023 Doha, which took place under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, today, Monday, October 2, 2023, at Al Bidda Park in the Qatari capital, Doha.Present at the event were also a number of leaders and presidents of states as well as dignitaries from different countries worldwideHE Mr Albudaiwi affirmed that this event comes at a very important time when the international community is discussing the optimal ways to preserve the earth's environment, ensuring sustainability for the ecological life and addressing many challenges facing this sustainability. His Excellency pointed out that the Expo 2023 Doha brings together innovations in the field of horticulture, sustainable design, and environmental preservation, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of nature protection and promote sustainability in the fields of horticulture and agriculture.He further added that the General Secretariat, based on the esteemed decision of the Ministerial Council in its 154th session approving the participation of the GCC in Expo 2023 Doha, is participating with a pavilion established under the theme "Towards a Green Gulf... Sustainable Environment." He added that through this pavilion, the GCC aims to highlight the most important topics of joint Gulf work, common plans, and strategies in the field of environment and agriculture, in addition to the most important current and future joint projects shared among the Council's member states in this field. His Excellency confirmed that the GCC pavilion is available with all its capabilities to serve all the member countries.Furthermore, HE the Secretary General emphasised that the State of Qatar hosting Expo 2023 Doha reflects the international community's confidence in its outstanding capabilities, which is a source of pride for us as GCC countries. He expressed his best wishes to the State of Qatar for success and prosperity during their hosting of this exceptional event.
