  The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council commends the Signing of the Riyadh Agreement between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani commended the Signing of the Riyadh Agreement between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council, describing it as an important and historic step to maintain Yemen's security, stability and unity. As well as uniting Yemeni efforts to confront the Houthi group and restore legitimacy of all Yemeni territories and serve the higher interests of the Yemeni people.
The Secretary General appreciated the sincere efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz to reach this historic agreement, proceeding from the Kingdom's policy and established principles in prevailing wisdom, dialogue and stopping the bloodshed. He stressed that the Kingdom has always demonstrated its keenness to unite the Yemenis, activate the Yemeni state institutions and support them, meet the living needs of Yemenis, preserve the stability of the region and enhance its security and peace.
Dr. Al-Zayani called on all Yemeni forces and components of Yemeni society to abide by this historic Agreement and adhere to it and support the efforts of the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council to bring Yemen to a new stage of unity, as well as the legitimate authority in its efforts to end the conflict and reach a peaceful political solution based on the three references; the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC), and the Security Council resolution 2216.
