Page ContentHis Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of a resolution supporting Palestine's right to full membership in the international organisation and recommending that the United Nations Security Council reconsiders the Palestinian request.Moreover, His Excellency emphasised that the fact that this resolution received the votes of 143 countries confirms and reaffirms the Palestinian right to this recognition, enabling the State of Palestine to exercise all its rights and responsibilities within this organisation.Furthermore, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General underlined the Cooperation Council's consistent stance in supporting the Palestinian cause and achieving a solution based on ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
