HE GCCSG: UN General Assembly's Adoption of Resolution on "Ending Illegal Presence in Occupied Palestinian Territories," Voted on During Emergency Special Session with Absolute Majority, Reaffirms Palestinian People's Right to Reclaim their Occupied Lands

General Secretariat - Riyadh

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of a resolution on "Ending the Illegal Presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territories," which was voted on during the emergency special session with an absolute majority, confirming the right of the Palestinian people to reclaim their occupied lands.

Moreover, His Excellency stated that the actions taken by the Israeli occupation forces, including settlement expansion and geographical changes, are considered illegitimate and illegal, lacking recognition at the regional or international level.

He emphasised the necessity for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in implementing this resolution, asserting that the occupied Palestinian territories will remain an integral part of the established rights of the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, His Excellency reiterated the steadfast positions of the GCC countries regarding the Palestinian issue, supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and advocating for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their state.
