  HE the GCCSG and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden Discuss Ways to Enhance GCC-Swedish and GCC-European Cooperation

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and His Excellency Mr. Tobias Billström, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, discussed ways to enhance GCC-Swedish and GCC-European cooperation in several areas, which will contribute to achieving mutual goals and promoting common interests for both sides.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of His Excellency's participation in the 60th Munich Security Conference on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Munich, Federal Republic of Germany. 

The two sides also discussed the outcomes of the 27th GCC-European Joint Ministerial Meeting held in Muscat in 2023, where they emphasised the importance of moving forward in implementing the agreements and understandings reached during this meeting.

Meanwhile, they also addressed the development of the cooperation mechanism between the GCC and Sweden on a bilateral level, as well as with the European Union through the GCC-European Joint Action Programme for the years 2022-2027.

Furthermore, they exchanged views and elaborated on various regional and international issues, notably the ongoing events in the Gaza Strip and the continued Israeli violations, in addition to their serious repercussions on the region and the world.
