  HE the GCCSG: Significant Efforts are being Made by the GCC and the UK to Overcome the Obstacles Hindering the Signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the Two Sides

His Excellency Mr. Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that the GCC countries and the United Kingdom (UK) are making great efforts to overcome the obstacles to signing the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two sides.

This came during his meeting with Her Excellency Ms. Kemi Badenoch, the UK's Secretary of State for Business and Trade on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in the British capital, London.

His Excellency pointed out that the meeting discussed the latest developments in the ongoing negotiations between the GCC and British sides regarding the FTA and the latest accomplishments of the GCC-British negotiating teams.

He emphasised that the FTA between the GCC and the UK would greatly contribute to enhancing trade and economic relations between the two sides and opening up new avenues for cooperation in various fields.

From her side, Her Excellency Ms. Badenoch expressed the UK's keenness to ensure the success of the negotiations in order to sign the FTA with the GCC as soon as possible.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to achieving rapid progress in the negotiations, serving the common interests of both parties.
